Business Botswana partners with BECI » TheVoiceBW

Business Botswana (BB) this week entered into a partnership with Botswana Export Credit Insurance (BECI) to work together in several ways.

BB CEO Norman Moleele explained that the MoU aims to provide a collaborative framework in which the two organizations will identify mechanisms to align organizational activities, information and resource sharing.

“This will not only significantly improve the relationship between the two organizations; it will also be a very productive move for the private sector,” Moleele said.

Moleele said the private sector, through Business Botswana, has been instrumental in improving business and competitive environments and believes that BECI’s involvement will strengthen institutional relationships and capacity building through cooperation.

He said that through the agreement, the private sector body intends to enhance the ambitions of the private sector to truly become an engine of growth.

“We are therefore confident that with this partnership, the private sector will take responsibility for contributing more effectively to the sustainable growth of the country,” said the boss of Business Botswana.

Some of the areas Business Botswana will work on with BECI include extending relevant initiatives organized by BB, its members or partners to provide solutions to local exporters, manufacturers and service providers to address export finance issues through the exchange of technical expertise, knowledge, and training opportunities.

The agreement will also facilitate BECI’s advocacy initiatives targeting the private sector for accessibility and hospitality.

For his part, BECI Managing Director Cowell Habana said the two organizations have a long-standing relationship that has existed informally since BECI was established in 1996.

“This is a commitment of our alignment with Business Botswana to mandate a key Botswana chamber of commerce,” Habana said, noting that the need to elevate the relationship is evident through the signing of the agreement.
