The Honorable Prime Minister virtually inaugurated the facilities of Make In India drone startup Garuda Aerospace simultaneously at 2 locations on February 18 via video conference. The unique and innovative event also featured the Honorable Prime Minister pressing a Drona button from his command center, which resulted in 100 Kisaan drones taking off simultaneously from 100 villages to begin crop spraying operations in 16 different states. to celebrate 75 years of progressive India as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Garuda’s 110,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, established under a strategic partnership with Defsys Solutions, is equipped with advanced design and prototype testing capabilities. The 2.5-acre facility is a hub for drone software design, hardware structural testing, type certification, and a manufacturing capacity of 40 drones per day. It should be noted that the supply order for 33 anti-drone systems of the MOD is being manufactured at this facility. Garuda’s proposed Chennai factory is located on a 20-acre facility where a mass manufacturing capacity of 100 drones per day and the manufacturing of 1,00,000 Kisaan drones are planned over the next 2 years. The site is also the proposed RPTO (Remote Pilot Training) facility which aims to train aspiring drone pilots. Over 100 students and aspiring drone pilots welcomed the Honorable Prime Minister for the event at Agni College of Technology, OMR, Chennai.

The Honorable Prime Minister praised Garuda Aerospace for the phenomenal growth the startup has seen over the past 2 years and encouraged more young people into the drone industry which he says is poised to skyrocket in a near future.

“After liberalizing drone rules in 2021, the government has consistently encouraged Aatmanirbhar Bharat with major policy decisions on Shakthi drone and by banning the import of foreign drones,” the prime minister said. He added saying, “Garuda Aerospace intends to manufacture 1,00,000 Indian-made drones and employ 2.5 lakh skilled youths directly and indirectly over the next 2 years as the drones will not only provide jobs, but are also about to disrupt several sectors like agriculture, surveying. , monitoring and upgrading to Industry 4.0”.

“It was the greatest honor of my life to have organized the most innovative virtual launch using drones and even more special than it was in the presence of the Indian model and my hero Modiji”, said Agnishwar Jayaprakash , founding CEO of Garuda Aerospace. He concluded his remarks by saying, “The Prime Minister’s launch of our drone facilities fuels Garuda’s vision to become India’s 1st unicorn drone startup that manufactures 6 lakh Drones and deploys 1 drone in every Indian village by 2025”!
