Shares of Shree Cement, Torrent Power, VR Logistics, Alkem Laboratories and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will start ex-dividend trading from Thursday, February 10. Kretto Syscon Ltd will also start trading on an ex-split basis from Thursday. These companies have set record dates for February 11 and 12 to finalize the names of shareholders.
The ex-dividend date is the day the shares begin trading ex-dividend. This means that whoever buys shares of a given company on or after the ex-dividend date will not be entitled to the dividend announced by the company, however, whoever owns the shares of the given company before the ex-dividend date entitled to the dividend.
The record date is the day a company decides which shareholders are eligible for payment of the dividend announced by the company. The ex-dividend date is usually one business day before the record date and is set by the rules of the exchange.

Cement Shree: Shree Cement, whose shares closed up almost 3% or gained 725 rupees to settle at 25,509.30 rupees per share on BSE on Wednesday, set an interim dividend of 45 rupees per share to eligible shareholders . The company’s board of directors has a fixed file to verify the names of shareholders as of February 12.
Alkem Laboratories: The board of this pharmaceutical company has set an interim dividend of SR 30 per share to deserving shareholders. Shares of Alkem Laboratories also closed Rs 24.95 higher at Rs 3,519.30 on BSE on Wednesday, before going ex-dividend from Thursday. The record date for determining the shareholders eligible to receive this dividend has been set for February 12.
Power of torrents: The company has announced an interim dividend of Rs 9 per share and a record date set for February 11 to finalize the names of shareholders in the company’s book. Shares of Electric Utilities also ended in the green with minor gains at Rs 512.40 per share on BSE.
RV logistics: Shares of this transport and logistics company ended down 4% at Rs 509.75 per share on BSE before trading with the dividend value from Thursday. VR Logistics board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 8 per share. The check-in date is February 11.
BPCL: The petroleum marketing and distribution company announced an interim dividend of RS per share, with an ex-date of February 10 and a record date of February 11. On Wednesday, shares of BPCL closed at Rs 376.20, down slightly by 0.36% before going ex-dividend from Thursday.
Split of Kretto Syscon shares: The board of directors of the company approved the issue of free shares in the proportion of 1 share of capital of Rs. 10/- each for 10 existing shares of Rs 10/- each held by the shareholders of the company at the recording date, which is February 11. The board also approved the proposal to subdivide or split the shares of the company from the nominal value of Rs. 10/- each to Rs. 1/- each (after splitting of shares). This is the second split since 2016, when the company announced a 2:5 split in March 2016. Kretto Syscon shares closed the upper circuit by 5% at Rs 9.14 per share on BSE Wednesday.
