Viral NJ sandwich shop that trades pickles for bread opens second location

A new sandwich shop is coming to South Jersey, and it’s kind of dill.

Elsie pickles, the viral deli known for putting sandwiches not on bread but rather on giant hollowed-out pickles, announced its second location. A new boutique in Northfield will accompany its flagship restaurant of the Township of Haddon somewhere in 2021.

“Over the next 90 days, our Elsie team will be working around the clock to open a second location to serve coastal communities,” the store said, sharing the news on Instagram. “We are delighted to bring them to shore and pamper our guests with our family recipes and traditions.

Elsie’s doesn’t just make pickle sandwiches – they also make the pickles that the sandwiches continue on. They make sandwiches as well as wraps – with thin slices of pickles that look more like sushi than your typical wrap. Elsie’s also sells their own Bloody Mary mix, pickle juice, and pickle shot glasses that are perfect for picklebacks.

Pickle sandwiches are great for anyone looking to cut down on carbs or if you just love pickles – although brackish meals without bread are definitely salty.
